Get To Know: Hooks N' Loops

Heather is new to Esty, at least relatively speaking. She opened Hooks N' Loops in January this year and quickly found success, which prompted her to open a second shop - Perfectly Papercut in early May. But you'd never guess that she's new to this whole online store front thing. She blogs, she Facebooks, she tweets - Heather is one connected crafter!

Mom to two little girls, Heather began her online shop with a focus on crocheting amigurumi. I know. I had no idea what amigurumi was either when I first started on Etsy. But spend more than two minutes on Etsy and you'll quickly learn that amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting little anthropomorphic stuffed animals. And Heather has some incredibly cute creations in her shop. My son already has me bookmarking her little monsters for his birthday in September!

And in addition to crocheting, paper crafting, raising two little girls, and trying to carve out some time for herself, Heather also tries to remain conscious of her impact on the environment. "I try to have a least a couple of items which can be re-used like my wash clothes. I also try to use mostly recycled packaging." The crocheted washcloth set that Heather has donated to the Great Gift, Good Cause Giveaway is a wonderful example of her eco-friendly crafts. It is astounding the number of paper towels that are thrown out each year. In fact, it is estimated that approximately 1 billion trees worth of paper are thrown away every year in the U.S. Think of how many resources are used to create paper towels that many of us quickly grab and discard without thinking. Heather's washcloth set is a much more environmentally friendly choice for the kitchen!

You can get to know Heather a bit more, too. Find her on...

You can win her set of 4 shades of green crochet eco-friendly washclothes starting Monday, May 23rd by entering the Great Gift, Good Cause Giveaway!
